It’s been a crazy couple of months and I wanted to take a few minutes and update you. If you have been reading my blog for any length of time, then you likely know that I recently lost my mom due to a 3-year journey with breast cancer. Upon being in Minnesota with her during her passing, then the service in May and now (yesterday actually) heading back to Minnesota with Ben to have some downtime with dad and to button up the final details of everything, I have been spinning a bit. You all know that feeling, right? Hard to focus on anything, not sure which direction to go next, grasping at anything that gives me a sense of your true north. Yeah, that’s totally me.

BUT, I finally feel as though I’m coming out of the fog a bit. The service for my mom was just beautiful. I was so honored to speak at her service and it felt so good to honor her and be present in that way during that special time. I miss her so much at times it just hurts. Life goes on and you pick up the pieces, but it’s certainly an emotionally overwhelming experience as I know so many of you have dealt with as well. I am so appreciative of the many emails and cards and correspondence that so many of you have offered me around this time. Thank you – every word helps so much!

Here’s a sweet pic of my boys from her visitation the evening before her service… these were the flowers from them…

There are of course a thousand more pictures, but I will spare you.  :)

Once I returned from MN, I was off that next week to my annual national conference in Scottsdale, Arizona for the NAPO (National Association of Professional Organizers) Conference, where I had the honor of sitting on the esteemed “Ask The Organizer” Panel. It was such an honor and SUCH a blast!  Yep, one of my goals has been to be on this panel and be on the jumbo-tron… check out my mug!

Upon returning from Arizona, it was time for my baby to graduate Kindergarten.  I know.  I am also in shock that this event has happened.  Honestly, he’s a first grader now?  How does this happen?  This was a tough event for me given that my mama would have been SO proud of him and would have loved to been a part of this.  We got through the day and celebrated at Dargans, Ben’s favorite restaurant (which my mom also loved).

On the work front, I have had a number of awesome projects throughout all of this madness and been able to keep it all together but overall have not been taking on anything new that I didn’t previously have booked.  That has, of course since changed as my summer is coming together nicely with a blend of fun family time/travel coming up and projects I’m excited about.  I’m also in the midst of a website upgrade – not fully finished and lots of tweaks to go, but this new site gives me a much greater expansion of options, such as video and online training, which are both in my not-so-distant-future business strategy.  It also helps me capitalize a bit more on my Productivity Puzzle framework and book, which is something I have been wanting to move towards from a branding strategy.  As always, stay tuned!

I’m also going to be starting a new series in July called “THE OFFICE VOYEUR”.  You know you want to peek in other people’s drawers and spaces and now you get to do just that.  It’s going to be fun and insightful and it’ll help us all relax knowing that we’re not the only one with some piles happening… ultimately it’ll help you answer the #1 question I get… “Am I the worst you’ve seen”?  :)  If you want to volunteer to be in the series and show off your beautiful work space, then email me at Sara@radiantorganizing.com

Happy June,
